This diploma is for storytellers with imagination. You’ll learn how to constructively craft marketing messages that connect with people. And you’ll graduate with the ability to inspire, inform, educate and entertain in a way few people can.

Copywriting is more than writing, it’s creating ideas that are innovative and unforgettable. To do this, you’ll work closely with an art director as your partner. At AAA, we’ll hone your writing and editing skills, and teach you to think laterally. You’ll learn to write for print, TV, radio and digital media. You’ll learn to become an avid observer of everyday life and the world around you and use this to inspire and inform your messages.

On graduating, you will also have a thorough knowledge of TV and radio production, as well as the advertising and marketing communication process.  Go on, apply

Copywriting students will work in teams with art directors and/or graphic designers on projects briefed and assessed, not only internally, but also by people in the advertising industry.

Campaigns

Copywriters, art directors and graphic designers work with marketing students in teams (in a simulated advertising agency environment) on real brands, developing fully integrated marketing communication campaigns. The projects are briefed in by – and presented to – advertising agencies and clients.

Work-based learning

All final year students embark on a structured and monitored four-week internship programme within an advertising agency.

Skills learned

Conceptualising

Leave clichéd ideas at home. Stay ahead of the game. Use your knowledge of what is trending, what could be the next big thing, possible weaknesses in your campaign, and your insight into cultural sensitivities to develop winning ideas.

Editing and proofing

Even the greatest messages lose their impact and credibility when peppered with basic spelling and grammatical errors. During your studies, you’ll learn the art of crafting slick messages, cutting unnecessary words, making the final result ‘look easy’ even though you sweated blood and other editing skills.

Presentation

The ability to present and sell your ideas is essential in any agency. If you lack confidence and conviction when presenting to a client, it won’t matter how brilliant your idea is, they won’t buy into it.
